ABOUT

I came to the nonprofit world as many of us do: I said Yes to volunteering. One yes led to another and soon I was hooked. Over the last 20+ years I've helped some amazing nonprofits raise $100 million and improve their governance structures, all while building some fun and effective teams along the way. I've served on and chaired multiple boards and committees and I've taught fundraising and governance classes. I love raising money, helping boards be more efficient and effective, working with philanthropic-minded people, mentoring new leaders, and generally helping nonprofits change and save lives.

I'm a graduate of Phillips Academy (Andover), and hold an A.B. in English from the University of Michigan and an M.S. in Education from the University of Illinois. I'm also a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) and Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®). After nearly 30 years in Portland, my wife Lisa and I now live in Anchorage, Alaska, where we are enjoying lots of new adventures and spectacular scenery.
